The company made the announcement yesterday at the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Pro Audio/Visual industry trade show here in Las Vegas.
One of the most important enhancements in the new DTS-HD Master Audio Suite v2.6 software is the fact that three new modes have been added to the XDS-AVI4 category. These include the first multi-channel high resolution format native to DVD video, as well as higher bit-rate HD mode for DVD-9 and DVD-10 formats. And in the same manner, while DTS-HD Master Audio still encodes and decodes audio at CD-quality (44.1 kHz/16-bit/mono), a new high-bit-rate 24-bit/192 kHz/16-bit mode has been added for DVD-9 and DVD-10.
True to its proud history of leading the industry in high-resolution audio encoding and decoding, Dolby Laboratories today announced that the next version of its DTS surround sound codec, version 6, will be ready for playback by the end of 2010, and will be supported in the next generation of Blu-ray Discs. The release of this new version of the DTS codec, in turn, means that consumers can expect to experience Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio in mainstream Blu-ray Disc playback applications by the end of 2010.
Dolby Laboratories has announced the immediate availability of a high-quality new version of its surround sound codec called DTS-HD Master Audio Suite 6. DTS-HD Master Audio Suite 6 provides the ability to support a variety of audio formats and connectivity options, and is designed to enable a number of high-definition video content types that will be available for Blu-ray Disc playback.
Today, Dolby Laboratories and other members of the Dolby Digital team held an event at the Consumer Electronics Show to kick off the unveiling of the Dolby Digital Plus Home Theater and Beyond certification program for high-definition audio. With the new Dolby Digital Plus Home Theater and Beyond certification program, the Dolby Digital Plus High-Definition Audio system will be added to the Dolby Digital High-Definition Audio system to allow consumers to match the quality of their living room or home theater. The Dolby Digital Plus High-Definition Audio system will be available this fall in more than 50 new and used cars from Chrysler, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Jaguar, Audi, and Infiniti.
